How to Create the Ideal Environment for Better Sleep
The room we sleep in has a direct influence on the quality of our rest, often more than we realise. Small adjustments to your environment can turn restless nights into truly restorative ones.
Temperature is one of the most important factors: a slightly cool room, between 18°C and 20°C, makes it easier to fall asleep and keeps sleep more stable throughout the night. A room that's too warm tends to cause frequent waking.
Darkness is essential too: even small light sources, like a charger's LED or streetlight, can interfere with melatonin production. Blackout curtains or a sleep mask easily solve this problem.
Background noise also deserves attention: constant, gentle sounds, like a fan or a white noise machine, help mask sudden interruptions that can wake you during lighter sleep. Finally, keeping the bedroom just for sleeping — avoiding working or watching TV in bed — helps your brain associate that space exclusively with rest.
