5 Simple Exercises to Do at Home With No Equipment

There isn't always time or motivation to go to the gym, but that doesn't mean exercise has to be put on hold. Using just your own body weight, you can keep up an effective routine without leaving home or spending money on equipment.

Squats work the legs and glutes very thoroughly and can be done in short sets throughout the day. Push-ups, even in a modified version with your knees on the floor, strengthen the chest, shoulders and triceps.

The plank is one of the most efficient exercises for your core: just 20 to 30 seconds, repeated a few times, is enough to feel the effect on your abs and lower back. Lunges pair well with squats, working balance and stability in each leg individually.

Finally, jumping jacks quickly raise your heart rate and are great for warming up or finishing off your workout. Twenty minutes, three to four times a week, already makes a visible difference to your energy and fitness.
