How to Read Nutrition Labels Without Overcomplicating It

Nutrition labels often hide more useful information than they first appear to, but only if you know where to look. Instead of focusing only on calories, it's worth starting with the ingredients list: the shorter and more recognisable it is, the better it usually is.

Pay attention to the reference serving size — it's often smaller than what we actually eat, which distorts how we read the numbers. Added sugars, sodium and saturated fat are the three most important things to watch, especially in processed foods that seem healthy at first glance.
